In a shocking turn of events, it was reported recently how criminal groups were nabbed and caught by the Belgium police officials after they carried out a certain operation similar to what we know as the Sky ECC network operation that occurred last year in 2021. The Belgium police were able to crack down a few criminal activities that were running under the “encrypted” Xrypt phones, which eventually were decoded, tracked, and decrypted by the police in Belgium. The Belgium police showed competence in their system when they proved how such fake encrypted phone provider networks could be decrypted to find out vital information about such organized crime in the country.
To catch the mafia involved, the police showed utmost skill and capability in breaking through these phones, which included a huge database of conversations, text messages, and communications between gangs doing underground activities like drug dealings, murders, and possession of lethal weapons. The Belgian, Dutch, and French police have now caught these gangs by hacking the so-called encrypted Xrypt phones. Several raids were carried out, and they arrested 23 people in the case. Speaking on it, one of the police personnel quoted saying, “We followed the gang using the IMEI number & cell phone tower tracking and amidst the investigation, we found how the Xrypt’s devices falsely advertised IMEI changing options to its users, which helped us nab them and make the arrests.” It is also necessary to note here that users paid high subscription fees for these encrypted devices, but the Belgium police could still locate and arrest them, which proved the fraud of the Xrypt phones.
Also, the police were able to easily dig out the information as the Xrypt devices used by the criminals did not have a working message lifetime feature on them, and the messages and conversations were found in unencrypted form in the servers. The police officials are on a constant move for more investigation in the case, and it has been said that more arrests will likely follow.
