In light of the security threat that the New Zealand contingent had received, New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White said that the team could not have continued to play in Pakistan. The New Zealand Cricket Board had taken the decision to postpone the tour of Pakistan – which included three One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals — minutes before the opening match on Friday in Rawalpindi, citing security concerns.
